New IET Journal Published
Synthetic Biology, a new journal from the IET, covers the new interdisciplinary field in which engineering principles are applied to biology. The journal covers the biological application of engineering concepts such as modularity, abstraction, and insulation from underlying detail. It aims to support this growing community of engineers and scientists with educational review materials and conventional research papers on synthetic biology. The first issue of Synthetic Biology focuses on the 2006 iGEM (international Genetically Engineered Machine) competition, where student teams competed to design and assemble engineered machines using advanced genetic components and technologies.
