Volunteer Opportunities
IAS is seeking qualified volunteers to work on publications, committees, and conferences. Please submit an inquiry by filling out a volunteer application on the IAS website.
IEEE Senior Membership
IEEE Senior membership is the highest grade for which application may be made and requires experience reflecting professional maturity. Candidates need to be an engineer, scientist, educator, technical executive, or originator in IEEE-designated fields in professional practice for at least ten years and shall have shown significant performance over a period of at least five of those years.
An application for Senior membership requires three references unless nominated by a Senior member, and in that case requires two references. Congratulations to the newly-elected IAS Senior members for 2016. IAS Distinguished Lecturer Program
The IAS Distinguished Lecturer (DL) and Prominent Lecturer (PL) Program allows Chapters to invite experts to visit Chapter events and give lectures. It is a great opportunity to have direct contact with the best researchers and industrial experts in our field.
The DL and PL lecturers can be reimbursed by IAS US$1,000 and US$600 per lecture travel. The monetary support of travel invitations is limited to three lectures per year. For more information, visit our website. New 2017 IEEE Fellows
The following IAS members have been elevated Fellows for the Class of 2017. Congratulations!

![]() IAS is a sponsoring society of the IEEE Transportation Electrification Community (TEC). The TEC coordinates broad and deep activities throughout IEEE in the growing electrification revolution across transportation domains, including advances in electric and hybrid cars, more-electric ships and aircraft, rail systems, personal transport, and the motive, storage, power grid, electronic intelligence, and control technologies that make them possible. The Community delivers engagement through leadership opportunities, professional development, standards development, and other programming for practitioners, researchers, students, and all IEEE members interested in electric transportation. It is free to join. As a TEC member, you will enjoy a discount on some excellent online tutorials on machines, fuel cells, batteries, and other topics. |

![]() New Offering for IAS Members ![]() In an effort to increase member benefits, IAS has created the IAS Resource Center. This Resource Center will house technical information such as webinars, slides and white papers. IAS members will be requested to sign in to access this information free of charge. Anyone that is not an active member of IAS will be charged a fee to access this information. If there is information that you would like to see in the Resource Center, please send an email to ias-administrator@ieee.org. ![]() Global IEEE Volunteers Needed this Summer to Provide STEM Program to Youth ![]() YOU are needed to staff the Electricity and Electronics Merit Badge booth in the STEM Quest area at the 2017 National Jamboree. Global volunteers are also needed to participate in train-the-trainer sessions to learn how to teach the basics of electricity and electronics to boys and girls in their local communities. Contact Ralph W. Russell II at emeritbadges@ieee.org to volunteer to spend a week or two in the scenic West Virginia mountains adjacent to the New River Gorge National River area to teach boys and girls the basics of electricity and electronics. We also need help with the planning and prep for the event. ![]() First Industrial and Commercial Power System European Conference (I&CPS)
The first Industrial and Commercial Power System European Conference will take place 6-9 June 2017 in Milan, Italy.
The scope of the Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Department includes all matters within the scope of IAS relating to the technology of electric power generation, transmission or distribution in industrial, commercial and institutional facilities, and within that segment of industry associated specifically with rural or agricultural applications. The scope also includes the creation of related technical standards governing such applications. The objective of I&CPS shall be the advancement of the theory and practice of engineering as it relates to design and management of electrical power systems and comfort conditioning systems within industrial plants, commercial buildings and institutional facilities, and electrical power systems that serve primarily agricultural areas. The fields of electronics and computer science as applied to industrial and commercial power systems or to electrical comfort conditioning also fall within the objectives of I&CPS. Topics eligible to be presented for this conference include (but are not limited to):
