Need to Create Better Presentations?
We all want to make great presentations, and we hope that others will provide us with the same. Unfortunately, we've sat through too many poor presentations: poorly organized, lacking content, tedious. But there are new tools that can help. First, why not rethink the organization of your presentation, adopting the assertion-evidence approach? Michael Alley, of Penn State University, provides a fresh alternative that makes your audience the focus.
Feeling more adventurous? How about a new, free presentation tool? Prezi calls itself the Zooming Presentation Editor, and the final result is more visually active and appealing than conventional Powerpoint.
Meet the PCS Award Winners
Kirk St. Amant, Associate Professor of Technical and Professional Communication at East Carolina University, will receive the Professional Communication Society's Ronald S. Blicq Award for Distinction in Technical Communication Teaching at the International Professional Communication Conference 2012.
The Blicq Award recognizes innovative educators who have influenced the ways that technical communication is taught--in pre-college settings, in undergraduate and graduate university degree programs, and in professional life through workshops and seminars.

Digital Content Editor Internship
PCS needs your help! We are looking for a digital content editor to revise and update our website, link to appropriate articles, podcasts, and videos, and maintain the overall look and feel of our online repository. If you have first-class editing skills, are comfortable navigating through basic web technologies, and can work remotely, then this may be a great opportunity for you. As digital content editor, you will be accountable for making sure that our audience has the resources they need. Your work will be centered around several key areas, including (1) content or genre, (2) media, (3) teaching, (4) professional practice, and (5) research methods. All of our resources are expected to fall within one of these five categories. Once content is in place, you will be responsible for linking specific nodes or chunks with relevant academic articles, podcasts, videos, and outside content that may further help our target users.
The successful candidate will be able to work independently and maybe even remotely, easily navigate basic web technologies, coordinate communiqués between several other content specialists, maintain very high standards of quality, and submit work on time according to schedule.
