The New PCS Web site is Live!

Everything is new on the new Professional Communication Society Web site! The new design makes getting the content you need easier. The new sections, like Blogs or Awards, help you connect with other members of PCS. We are excited by the launch of the new PCS website, and we encourage you to take a look!

In the coming months, we will be adding new content and enriching the site so it is more useful to you, the PCS member. If you have suggestions for new sections you would like to see, or content you wish us to add, please contact me at juliawilliams@ieee.org.

IPCC 2012 in Orlando, Florida, 8-10 October

The theme of this year's conference is Communicating Vision. Vision is one of the most important channels for communicating information, encompassing all aspects of data visualization, information design, and best graphical practices, in all forms of print and electronic media. The conference will bring together technical communication professionals, academics, working engineers, and other practitioners of effective communication for three days of sessions, workshops, and networking.

Our keynote speaker will be Manuel Lima, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, named by Creativity magazine in 2009 as 'one of the 50 most creative and influential minds', and a senior UX design lead at Microsoft Bing.

The preliminary program is now available. Please note that this program is subject to change. On behalf of IPCC 2012 Conference Chair George Hayhoe, I hope you will plan to attend!

In Memoriam

We mourn the passing of Bill Kehoe, a longtime member of PCS and friend of our society, earlier in the summer. Bill Kehoe was an AdCom member for many years and served as both society and conference treasurer. He worked at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. According to Steve Robinson, current PCS Treasurer, Bill taught him everything he knows about IEEE financials, and George Hayhoe recalled Bill's help during George's first term as PCS president. We are keeping Bill's family in our thoughts at this time.
