image of Stephanie White Our 13th Annual IEEE Systems Conference was held 8-11 April 2019 at the Hyatt Grand Cypress in Orlando, FL, USA. An outstanding keynote address "Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Autonomy, and Systems Engineering" was presented by Dr. Dinesh Verma, Executive Director of the Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC). The SERC is a federally funded University Affiliated Research Center (UAEC) managed by Stevens Institute of Technology consisting of a collaborative network of over 20 universities. Dr Verma's presentation is available on our website. The next IEEE Systems Conference will be held in Montreal, Canada. The 5th International Symposium on Systems Engineering (ISSE) which will be held 1-3 October 2019 at the Principal Hotel George Street in Edinburgh, Scotland.

You may also be interested in submitting a paper to one of our two excellent Journals. We are very proud of our IEEE Systems Journal, which provides a systems-level, focused forum for application-oriented manuscripts that address complex systems and system-of-systems of national and global significance. Our second journal, the IEEE Journal on Miniaturization for Air and Space Systems (J-MASS) is a new technical journal covering the rapidly evolving field of small air and space systems such as drones and small satellites, and the development and architecture of the miniaturized components needed for these systems. Visit the J-MASS website for the range of topics.

The IEEE Systems Council recently awarded two student scholarships. One is the James O. Gray Scholarship of US$5000 which is awarded to a graduate student pursuing studies in process control systems engineering, plant automation or instrumentation and measurement. The other is an IEEE Systems Council funded scholarship of US$5000 which is awarded to an undergraduate student in these fields of study or systems engineering. These scholarships are awarded annually; see the Systems Council website for more information.

Please visit our website frequently for conference announcements and other updates.

Our newsletters are published quarterly and include information on IEEE Systems Council activities plus a list of other conferences of interest. I hope you find this newsletter of interest. Past newsletters can be found on our website.
